Tuesday evening sees both our Senior and Junior camogie teams away playing their final rounds of the Championship.
The Seniors play Knockananna in Ballinakill and the Juniors are up against Avondale. Both games are near one another, so you could get to watch both teams!
A Great display of hurling last night from our U13 Boys to secure the A Shield in a hard fought battle with Bray Emmets. Coming out on the right side of a scoreline 8.7 to 5.6. The boys showed showed heart and determination throughout and hurled with the skill they had worked hard on all year in training. We have built this group up to 20 strong, and it was fantastic to see them all revel in the excitement of winning last night. But the greatest win will be seeing them all back next season on the field for the Rocks.
Congratulations to our u14 girls who won their final against Eire Og last night. They led from the start and showed some great camogie skills and teamwork. Our girls from start to finish battled hard for every ball and Eir óg never gave up and battled to the end. Well done to lily our team captain for her fine speech.
Tuesday night, history was made on the Rocks’ pitch. Our first Senior Camogie Championship match ever was played and it did not disappoint.
Numbers were low, but we knew it would be a challenge this year, fielding a Senior and a Junior team. Thank you to Donard Glen for their game spirit and matching our numbers and a special shout out to Orlagh Kelly for stepping up.
From the first whistle the pace was fast with two strong teams. You could not turn your head away for a moment for fear of missing some of the action. At half time Arklow Rocks we 6 points down with the score ARP 1:6 Donard 4:5.
The second half started at the same fast pace as the first. This was kept up for a long as possible, but tiredness set in for some players and Donard capitalised on this, winning at the final whistle.
These players are warriors. This team must now truly believe that they are where they belong, in the Senior Championship. They know what they need to work on, and as previous years have proved, they will put in the effort to get where they want to be, and with excitement, we all get to watch.
Our next match is an away match against Kiltegan on Tuesday 27th August, throw in at 7pm. All support welcome!

On Thursday evening the lads were away to St. Pats in Wicklow. A much cooler evening for this game but nonetheless these lad showed great skill and determination in another excellent game of hurling.
Both the teams are really enjoying their hurling and have had a busy week but always give it their all.
Massive thanks, as usual, to the parents for getting the lads to games and to Cian for a fantastic job refereeing the home game on Wednesday.
